Hi all...
Those of you, who know me, know that I hate Internet Explorer... don't use it, unless I have to. It's awkward, and full of security holes, 'cause it's so popular, folks always try to hack it.
For the longest time, I've used Netscape 4.78, however that browser doesn't work anymore, for a lot of the newer websites and forums.
Therefore, in true support of open-source technology, I'm using Mozilla 1.0 now. Looks and feels like Netscape 4.78, but 'most all of the newer websites work as well on it, as they do on IE... therefore I believe it has all the potential to be a reasonable alternative.
There are a few things I'm concerned about, though... and I was hoping to get a little assistance from the good folks here, in getting it to operate securely and reliably.
First off, Mozilla 1.0 is available as a free download, at:
http://www.mozilla.org/
The first thing I noticed on installation, is that on bootup, it asks for server rights... haven't had a browser do that to me, before... I'm thinking it might be because it includes an IRC client, as well as incorporating a version of AOL instant messenger... if that's the case, no biggie... as long as those features aren't in an "always on" mode. The  "server rights" issue, has definitely got a lot of folks paranoid, about just how much access folks have to your computer, while connected to the net... I've heard paranoia rumors for a while now.
However, those rumors might be due to other privacy and security concerns, that I'm not aware of... and so, if anyone has more specific information on this, I'd appreciate knowing about it, including settings and preferences to set, so that there are no holes.
I'm probably gonna be playing with this, for a few weeks now, and I was hoping we could team up, and bulletproof this thing, so that we're not all subject to the dictatorial rule of Microsoft.
Any help, comments, or suggestions are MOST appreciated!
KTF, M.

Really can't help you there, I stopped using Mozilla years ago.

Only thing I can think of is that you are using the reporting version, which uses your data whenever errors or something odd comes up, and sends it off to the devs at Mozilla.
