Just wondering if that is a high on the priority list 'thing to do'
When I go to check my stats I am only seeing January, Febry and May. What happened to March April and June?

If no stats appear in those time frames, they won't appear in your list.

Stats are not the biggest priority, but aren't too far  down the list.

The new stats will be much closer to accurate (there is no such thing as 100% accurate stats) and more detailed.  The will also include page views/downloads etc.

Thanks Waldo. Still seems a bit odd as the months listed only show one songplay between them, so what's so different about March April and June? And with my increased visibility in the past month .. has NOBODY at NoWhere even bothered listening to one song yet??

Sadly it only reflects a general lack of activity and audience/artist participation on the website .. which brings me to my next point .. being the overall user friendliness of the website, but I may be opening a can of worms. I think the improvements in the look and feel of the website are clear enough for all to see, but there is still an overall user unfriendliness about the site. It's difficult to navigate and find the thousands of acts available.

Examples: The Main Logo above ought to be a default link to the Front Page, on Every page.. and the Front Page could show more than just the 10 most recent acts or most recent songs uploaded. Where are the songs loaded last month or last year?? The chart could show more than the Top 10. Top 50 on numerous genres would give bucketloads of acts more potential exposure? And with traffic levels so low in general, I imagine one or two songplays would shift chart positions radically in the lower regions. How are the charts compiled? Are songplays counted or only downloads? How dynamic/accuurate are they? I'm totally aware that a NoWhere Radio chart position is of no relevance in the real world, but it is of significance to both artists and visitors to the web, who will use the charts to explore. If only 10 acts are listed, then they are the only acts getting any traffic..

I think what's needed is an overall hierarchic level of navigation buttons that are consistent and consolidated. I keep ending up at dead ends and having to backtrack to find the next act or pages of interest. I realise I'm talking marathon task for one poor dude with no time or funds, but worth at least having some discussion about how easy or difficult it is to find your way around the website.

I've had more comments that it was easy to navigate from web novices than comments that it was hard to navigate from web 'pros', so I'm not inclined to change anything.  For example, a 65 year old lady who just got the internet for the very first time, in fact, it's also her first computer, recently called me to say that the website was so easy to get around, and she found everything she wanted.

The problem is you are used to other websites and navigation, all the information you have asked for, and all the abilities you asked for are there.

I'll give you a couple hints, charts are based on what is written right below each and every charts page.  There is an individual chart for each and every genre, and as it says on the 'charts' page, you can find them exactly where it says.  It also says there is more charts coming.  Links to the main page do exist on every page (top right, Home).  You can browse every single artist in every single genre, using a link on every genre page that is fairly obvious: 'Browse All Artists In Genre'.

Look around, and don't look thinking about how the 'last' site did it.

Songs on NWR average about 10-30 listens a piece monthly (over 3,000 songs), the stats are not working 100%, as is stated in the general help section.  The last server move took them out.  NWR recieved well over 100,000 visits (hits in the millions, as those other sites list there traffic by hits, which represents nothing...) last month and has several thousand members.  Currently increasing by about 10 members daily, traffic is also on a consistent upswing.

Less than half of NWRs visitors are artists, unlike other sites.  Listeners are a quiet bunch.  You can sit here and watch the 'guest' count here in the forums if you like, it's usually much higher than the user count.  Unlike other sites, listeners don't have to register to listen, so very few do.  I challenge you to find any indie website with a high 'participation' level as you call it of Non-artists.  It's a simple fact, even at a live gig, you will get way more comments from fellow musicians than you ever will from the general audience.

NWR4 will be the next revision, but unfortuneatly, I've got less and less time as each day passes.  There is over 300 things on the to do list, and yep, it's only me working on things, and I have to dedicate time to making a living so that I can eat.  Be patient, there is alot more than what you see!

Thanks - nice response Waldo. Good to hear the traffic is flowing. I'll sit tight and watch how it goes. I know you're doing a sterling job. None of the above meant as a put-down. More flow of consciousness suggestion box. The forum is great by the way .. just wish more folks would use it.

cheers mate
