...the record companies are getting fat.
Yes as the season of good will approaches the usual deluge of greatest hits starts to appear but I've got to admit there are one or two good 'uns on offer with the likes of Nirvana, Bowie, Madness, Manic Street Preachers et al.
Does anyone find themselves buying these cds when they already own a lot of the tracks on them. I mean Bowie's had a few out but this new one includes tracks up until his new album, which is good so I guess I'll be buying it to get the single mixes I never bothered with when I bought the original albums they were taken from lol. I know it's a rip off but when it's someone I really like I just don't really mind.
Any way sorry for bringing up the festive season so early but that's the power of television for ya, they've been running Xmas ads over here in the UK since the end of September.
Bah humbug
I haven't bought a major label CD in a good 4 maybe 5 years... I don't break down for even the most intense marketing scheme if I don't like the tunes.
Indie all the way for me!

I like you more and more everyday! ;)
Now wouldn't it be cool if people would buy indie discs for their friends and relatives for Christmas this year instead of the typical radio/MTv bands?

Indeed! I did this last year for my Father, my Sister, and a few friends.
I customized a few a bit as well, knowing their tastes, adding voice-overs and intros to a few. Found the CDs in their car stereos more than once!

Indeed it would and the compilation idea W is a fantastic one. I've probably bought three times as many indie releases this year to major so please don't think I was trying to plug them over us, the only point I was making is there are a few good 'uns out there this year.
We'll have to get a NoWhere Indie Christmas comp for next year ;D
