Hi.
I liked the song (13 Years), and here is what I think:

Your voice will suit the Neil Young, acoustic style better (the song reminds me in parts of Neil Young's - Southern Man) reomve the heavy-rock sound and go for the rock-acoustic folk style. It would, I think, sound great.
Your voice will be the binding element of the melodies, not that "hotel-California-guitar-solo-meets-the-Scorpions-thing".

And pleaseeeeeeeee record another version of the song with:
1. Your great voice.
2. Acoustic guitar
3. Les Paul light distorted guitar.
4. Simple bassdrum/snare/ride/hit-hat drums
5. Laidback bass
5. Some double/triple vocal harmonies in the chorus.
