Title: RealOne Playback Problems
Post by: KnightWolfJK on May 31, 2002, 06:55:37 AM
Greetings... I was recently trying to listen to Vicevursa's music.  When I choose RealPlayer as my weapon of choice, I get an error that RealPlayer does not support the cgi filetype.  My uneducated guess would be that the CGI script isn't porting the sound file completely.

I'm using WinNT 4.0 SP6, IE5.5, and RealOnePlayer 6.  The music streams just fine to external Windows Media Player.

Just FYI, thanks...

Interesting.... Working just fine on my NT box, is your IE5.5 SP2?  Also, you were using the playback buttons I assume.

What's the mime-settings like for M3U on your system?

Yep, IE5.5 SP2, and the mime settings for .MP3 Playlist are audio/mpegurl, opening with REALPLAY.

PS, I'd like to point out that RealPlayer isn't my first choice for a media player. Nor is it my 17th choice, for that matter.  But this is a corporate machine and I have to go with the pre-installed schtick.

Not sure why RealOne wouldn't work, and Windows Media would, as the script is the same for both, only it outputs the data for Windows Media (ASX) when it's chosen, and for M3U type playlists when it's chosen.

Only thing I can think of is if there is some configuration difference in RealOne as a default on an NT machine.  I'll look into it a little deeper here.
