Recently I acquired a Breedlove Atlas AC25SR Plus acoustic-electric guitar. I've also been digging this tune by Mark Byrd and Steve Hindalong. It's a tune that is played by Worship Teams throughout the world so I am happy and honored to offer this up as my personal praise to the Lord. A few technical details:
Recorded on a Boss BR1180CD digital workstation
Breedlove was plugged direct in with a COSM preamp setting "Nice Acoustic" enabled
Electric guitar: Fender VooDoo Strat direct in with COSM setting "Clear Sky" (both rhythm and harmony lead". The main lead is a setting called "Voxy"
My wife played the keyboards (Casio CTK671) for the organ voice but I did the "gamelan" motif at the end.
Vocal mic: Shure SM58
Bass: Jackson bass using the "fliptop soul" COSM setting |

Self-indulgent tripe, I admit, spiced up with some layered horn voicings. Now its sounds like one of those soundtracks to 70s Quinn-Martin cop shows like Baretta and Streets of SF.

I'm in a Jimi mode of late. Actually I recorded this about a year ago but did not have the cajones to post it. I remixed it after fixing up the drum track a bit and fading out most of the endless/mindless playing at the end.

Here's a demo I did for my company's United Way campaign. It features Ruth Ann Fortuno, my wife's business partner, on vocals. She has the vocal chops I lack. The folks requesting the song liked it and we did a video featuring our employees singing.

…And Mr. Walsh, and Mr. Hendrix, and Mr. Rogers (the Chic guy, not the sweater guy). Had a ball coming up with this one. The lead was done in about 3 takes without punch-ins. Yeah, there are a couple rough spots but hey, it’s only rock ‘n roll! Warning: Overzealous guitar playing ahead. Technical stuff for gear heads:
Guitar: ’62 RI Strat
Amplification/FX: Marshall 50 W 1987X RI head with 1960A 4x12 cab. Guitar into FoxRox Capt. Coconut 2 into ADA MP-1 tube preamp into Marshall. CC2 fuzz and Provibe used on outro.
Mic: Cab close mic’d with SM-58
Bass: Cheap Jackson direct into BR1180 COSM preamp (set to “Fliptop Soul”)
Drums: On-board drums on BR1180

OK, another cover of something that’s been already covered to death by Eric Clapton, Sting, Concrete Blond, SRV, and even Skid Row. Why? Because I really like the song.

This is a work in progress. It's a short jazzy sketch. Sort of Earl Klugh meets Eric Johnson meets Steely Dan. Drum fills and ending needs work. I originally was going to call it "Strictly Commercial" but Frank Zappa beat me to it!

This little popular Latin instrumental was done on my new BR1180-CD with a Les Paul Custom, Cheap keyboards, and DR-550 for additional percussion. My wife, who normally doesn't jam with me, was kind enough to read my chord progression from a Post-It note. I had to yell "C-Major 7th and C-Minor 7th" for the different phrase endings. She's actually quite an accomplished musician in her own right and runs the Keiki Kani Music Studio in Aiea (shameless plug).

I do a little Hawaiian kine music sometimes. This tune was transformed from an 'oli (Hawaiian chant) into music by a group called Hui Ohana. Cody Pati also did a version of this a couple years ago. If you like the tune, you should check these guys out.
