FOUR HANDS - ONE PIANO
Both these guys deserve a round of applause as they were asked by their teacher,(me) to do something 'off the cuff' @ Dan's last lesson w/ me prior to his embarking to Williams for further studies.
Garth has another year w/me (poor fellow)[nyuck nyuck]
I had the distinct priveledge of mentoring these two back to back on Wednesday afternoons for the past couple of years.
The only instructions that were given to them prior to recording was to start w/a free classical improv, followed by free jazz & concluding w/the blues!
They switched from left to right sides 3 times during the session. Garth is the Franz Liszt and Dan the Frederic Chopin.
I might add that BOTH these cats scored in the HIGH 1500's in their S.A.T.'s and that they have as much intrinsic gift as I have ever witnessed in my 29 years as a piano instructor. God bless them both! |
